Bali Day 2 @ Kuta

As the weather was really too hot to bear, we decided to head back to our villa.Along the way, we came across this 24hr diner that we will keep it in mind just in case we were hungry in the middle of the night.
But we didn had the chance to try it.

Next in our agenda was to head to Kuta. We asked the villa's management to help us hail a cab to Kuta and they were very helpful.

We were famished when we reached discovery mall at Kuta so we headed straight to the food court at Kuta. if you were to sit in the non-air con area at the food court, you are able to see the Kuta beach like the one below.

We had no idea what to eat so in the end, xin wanted something authentic so he chose something remotely like indonesian food while the name of the dish i order did not ring a bell until the food was served. The name of my dish was "Furong-something" heh and i guess it is similar to the furong egg we have here in singapore.

next stop for us was to eat again!to the black canyon quite weird to hear "sawadi-kar" in indonesia but oh well because it was a nice spot to relax since we were facing the beach while sipping our ice cold coffee

And i saw this pirate ship floating in the sky so cute!

There was nothing much to do at the discovery mall because we wasnt that interested in shopping so we spent time reading the magazines provided and decided to take a picture of the map in Kuta- it might come in useful later.

off to the Kuta beach!

Bali Day 2 Outing

After lazing around in the villa after our breakfast, we decided to walk around the area where our villa was situated-Semiyak
The vennia cafe outside our villa

Some sort of a directory board

Semiyak have lots of stand alone local designer shops but it is not cheap at all.But they do put in lots of effort to design the decor of their stores. An example of a typical store is like the one below.

And so typical of us to wander into their supermarket-Grind and Grocer

We continued our journey to the beach at Semiyak. It was sooo hot, the sand was burning our feet even  with our footwear on.

Bali Day 2 Morning Breakfast

Our package which we booked directly with uma sapna, provided us breakfast daily at our villa. We were given three choices to choose from:
1. American breakfast
2. International breakfast (which was between fruits platter or basket of pastries)
3. Indonesian breakfast

We had to tick off what we wanted to eat and hang the information sheet on our villa's door knob before 2am so they could prepare our breakfast and deliver them to the villa.

The daily set up for our breakfast

The indonesian breakfast set:
which included the mee goreng with prawn crackers and a bowl of tropical fruits

The American breakfast:
which included eggs (any kind you choose), ham, bacon and bread all for you to choose

But we both find that the food in Bali is a tad too salty for our liking :)

Off to Bali! Day 1

Finally get to go Bali after a whole year worth of work! :)

Since we were trying to be as economical as possible, we decided to take a budget airline-jetstar asia which cost the two of us $368 however the flight timing leaves little to be desired but what the heck!it is half the price of SQ at the time when we booked

Flight details:

Departing
Monday 14 Dec 09    JQ117
1825hr at Changi Airport Terminal 1

Arriving
Monday 14 Dec 09
2115 hr at Denpasar Bali -Ngurah Rai Airport

The trip was only 2 hours plus and there was no time difference for singapore and bali!
The villa that we book was at Uma Sapna located in Semiyak, Bali. The more relaxed area of Bali (compared to Kuta)

At the departure area before flying off

When we reached, the room was well decorated with flower petals..however for the practical me, I thought it was such a waste cos we had to spend time clearing away the rose petals before sleeping and on top of that, there were stains caused by the rose petals on the bedsheets...

The one with the bedroom lights on

The soft lights on (probably without flash too)

More importantly for us, was to fill our hungry stomach because of the time of our flight we were a little hungry when we got there. Our nice driver dropped us off somewhere before reaching our villa for us to buy our nasi padang.

I ordered an egg, some rendang beef and fried chicken. It cost us 22,000 rupiah.(about $3) since the exchange rate was about S$1 to 6300 rupiah when we changed at the airport.

The chilli was really very spicy!

And that ends our first day in Bali!
